Is it a painful operation?
The endoscopic forehead lift and the direct forehead lift take place under general anesthesia. For several weeks you will experience swelling and bruises. The direct eyebrow lift can be performed under local anesthesia. Minor pain complaints can be treated with cooling or paracetamol.
Do I have to worry about ugly scars?
There are three types of treatment. The first one is the endoscopic forehead lift. Six small cuts are made in the hairy part of the head. The surgery is performed with keyhole surgery. The second one is an open brow lift. You will then get a scar along the hairline. I rarely perform this procedure. The third procedure is a direct eyebrow lift. You will then get scars on the top edge of the eyebrows, which will not be noticeable after a while. A direct eyebrow lift can be a good choice, especially for older patients.
How come your eyebrows fall?
The reason why lowered eyebrows bother you has to do with aging of your skin and forehead muscles. The skin’s elasticity diminishes and gravity takes over. Sunlight and smoking aggravate the situation. By lifting your forehead, your skin becomes smoother and your eyebrows are lifted.
Will I get an unnatural appearance after the treatment?
A forehead correction gives a nice result. Your tiring look and angry expression will disappear. You will continue to have a natural expression; you will look fresher and younger. However, it may be that the eyebrows give a somewhat surprised look during the first six weeks. I know from experience that the skin will sag to the desired level.
